Thanks for sharing your slides. If your info on CF9 is reasonably conclusive then it looks like there won’t be any significant new features, the stuff to make it a “must have” upgrade.
I believe there is more to come.
Although, I would say some of the features already annouced make it a must have. At least I believe a development team would like to have it ( I want it ). I’m interested? what are you looking for? Maybe it doesn’t appeal to some that want more Charting, or visual wizbang components.
Cheers
Gareth
What new features do you think make it a $4500 “must have” upgrade? (I’m in the UK and run Enterprise, so everything Adobe sells here is at an inflated price.)
I was hoping to see some BIG features like cfaudio and cfvideo. With so much rich media content on the web it’s unfortunate that CF offers nothing to make it easier to code sites that let users upload video then resize, transcode, trim, and merge clips together. So much video and audio power is built into the Flash player to view (and record!) content but CF developers can’t easily create and process that sort of content without using other tools (sometimes quite expensive and requiring other programming skills) and patching some sort of workable system together.
I know there’s Flex but not everyone wants to learn a new language. Some people still think that using a few HTML-like tags to perform complex tasks is both very cool and a wonderful time saver.
